CONFIRMATION AND CONFIRMATION CHOIR

Good luck to our P7 pupils who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday afternoon at 3.00pm in the Sacred Heart Church.  All pupils have been preparing diligently for their big day so hopefully the weather plays its part to enhance the occasion.  More specific details about times, seating arrangements etc. will be issued later in the week.

Our school along with All Saints P.S. Tattysallagh have been asked to make up the choir on Saturday afternoon.  All pupils (P4-P7) have been practising hard for this for many weeks so we hope that as many pupils as possible come along to lend their support.  Given the size of the Sacred Heart Church along with the fact that Bishop McKeown will be in attendance , it is important that we do our bit to add to the ceremony.  Further details about arrangements will be issued later in the week.

ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOIL QUIZ

Good luck to the four pupils who will represent the school in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil school quiz in St. Conor’s P.S. tomorrow morning.

SUSTRANS ACTIVE JOURNEYS

You will have received correspondence last Friday about our ‘Active Journeys’ this week.  To summarise, we are trying to get as many pupils as possible to walk, cycle (or scoot) at least some of their journey to and from school.  Obviously we are well aware that this is very much relative to age, circumstances and indeed weather but if at all possible, encourage your child to make an effort to walk at least some of the journey this week.  There will be a school prize for the individual who made the greatest effort over the course of the week, while if the school meets its target, there is the possibility of receiving a bike parking stand which would be very useful in the summer term.

HURLING COACHING PROGRAMME

A 6 month hurling coaching programme is beginning at Garvaghey in the near future.  Further details are attached.

HEATING FOOD

In recent times we have been asked to pop occasional items into the microwave oven so as to heat items for lunch.  Increasingly, however, this has become something of a ‘trend’ to such an extent that on Thursday we were asked to heat 6 different items ranging in length from 30 seconds to 2 mins.  Given that we have one microwave oven (which is for staff) it is becoming something of a logistical nightmare – indeed some children are only receiving their food when all the others have left the dining hall.  As a result we are going to have to stop this practice.  Please be assured we are not being awkward, but increasingly the ‘demand’ has rendered it just too difficult to manage.  Apologies.
