A big welcome back is extended to all our pupils throughout the school, with a particular welcome to our new recruits.  Joining us in P.1 are Connie, Padraig, Emma, Connor,Erin, Ewan, Michael, Aoibheann, Eimear, Keogan, Ryan and Ceili-Rose.  We extend a warm welcome to all pupils new and ‘established’, we hope and trust that you will have a very enjoyable and rewarding year ahead.

As always we encourage parents to play an active role in their child/children’s education and invite you to contact the teacher concerned should your child encounter any trouble ‘settling in’ or indeed at any time of the year.  We value the interest of you, our parents and trust that we can rely on your support for the coming year.

All children are looking resplendent in their new school sweaters and cardigans.  May we ask you to take time to ensure that all children’s clothing is labelled so as to avoid any unnecessary confusion.

This is not always a topic we like to discuss but just a simple reminder to remain vigilant as to the possibility of the presence of lice in your child’s hair.

For those children who wish to take milk, the cost for the new term which takes us to Christmas is £9.80.  Payment should be made by Wednesday of this week as the first order of milk will begin the following day Thursday, 6th Sept.

Parents should be aware that the cost of a school dinner is now £2.30.  Please note that the money can only be handed in to the office from Monday to Wednesday.  Any family who feel they may be entitled to Free School Meals can make relevant enquiries to WELB tel. 8241 1238.

Any P.7 parent planning to get their child to sit the 2012 Transfer Exam for admission to Grammar School is reminded that registration closes on Friday, 21st September at 4.00pm.  Application forms can be obtained from the local Grammar Schools.  Any P.7 parent who wishes to discuss this year’s entire Transfer arrangements should contact Mr McElholm.

Tin Whistle for all pupils (P.3-P.7) begins next Tuesday, 11th September.  Tin Whistles can be bought in the school for £2.70.  We ask that all whistles be labelled clearly with your child’s name on it.

An After-Schools programme is currently being finalised – full details will be issued next week.

A big welcome is extended to Mr Christopher Kelly who has joined our teaching staff for this year.  Christopher will be teaching in the P.4/5 class.  You are very welcome Christopher.

We remember our P.1 Classroom Assistant, Sharon Jones who is on an extended career break as her family have decided to try out life inAustralia. Good luckSharon.
