WELCOME STUDENT TEACHERS

A couple of new faces have joined us last week; student teachers Nichola Donnelly and Anna McElholm from St. Mary’s University College, Belfast will complete their teaching practice in Mr McElholm and Mrs Mellon’s rooms respectively.  We trust they will enjoy their teaching experience here.

WORLD BOOK DAY

This Thursday is World Book Day.  In conjunction with this, pupils in P.6/7 are off to the Folk Park to develop their studies on the popular Marita Conlon McKenna novels.  By sheer good fortune, the author herself is actually in the Folk Park on Thursday to celebrate World Book Day and will be meeting our pupils while there.  Obviously, this is a very exciting opportunity for our pupils to meet this renowned author especially since we are actually studying her books at the minute.  All other pupils in P.1-P.5 are invited to mark World Book Day by coming to school dressed up as a popular book character.  This is purely for fun and novelty value and no-one should go to any expense for this.

NERVE CENTRE

This promises to be an interesting and exciting week for pupils in Mr Kelly and Mr McElholm’s classes as they will embark on an ICT project with tutors from the Nerve Creative Learning Centre in Derry.  The school recently purchased a set of 30 iPads and will be putting these to good use this week, when they create an animation of their own.  Mr McElholm’s class undertake this project on Tuesday and Wednesday with Mr Kelly’s class on duty on Thursday and Friday.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY CEILI

Next Monday morning (10th March) our pupils from P.4-P.7 will head off to the Strule Arts Centre to participate in the annual Omagh District Council organised Primary School’s Ceili – a number of ‘training sessions’ have already been held in advance of this, so hopefully all involved will put their best foot forward next Monday!

ART CLUB

The Art Club on Tuesday afternoon will switch to P.4/P.5 pupils from now until Easter.

FILM CLUB

Due to the advent of brighter evenings, Film Club is now over for this year – well done to all who participated.  Final prizes of Cinema Passes for film reviews will be issued this Friday.

GIRLS FOOTBALL TRAINING

Football training for girls 10-12yrs is continuing at the C.B.S. for another 2 weeks from 7-8pm.
