TRANSFER RESULTS

Well done to all our P.7 pupils who endured a nerve-wracking Saturday morning, before the post arrived with Transfer grades.  As mentioned previously, irrespective of grades awarded, all pupils should be proud of their efforts and if they maintain their current good attitude towards their work, will succeed – regardless of which school they transfer to.  Transfer interviews will be held next Wednesday, 8th February, exact times for meeting will be issued during the week.

INDOOR GAELIC

Good luck to our footballers who participate in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil indoor Gaelic competition on Wednesday morning.  At least they will not have to worry about the poor weather for this competition!

CREDIT UNION QUIZ CHAMPIONS

Well done to all who participated in the Credit Union quiz on Friday night in Fintona Golf Club.  All teams represented themselves very well and were right ‘in the mix’ until the later rounds.  Particular mention, of course, must be made of our triumphant P.6 team of Eoghan McGrath, Lucy McCann, Carol McKnight and Ronan Darcy who won 1st prize and collected a cool £50 each for their efforts, along with a Samsung Galaxy Tablet for the school – a great evening’s work!!  We must thank the volunteers from Fintona Credit Union both for their efforts in running such a successful quiz and for their extremely generous prizes.

GRANDPARENTS’ DAY

As part of Catholic Schools’ Week we will be having our annual Grandparents’ Day on Wednesday morning at 11.00am.  All grandparents are warmly invited to attend for an hour or so of light ‘entertainment’ and a chance to see around the school.  We look forward to seeing you then.

SCHOOL OPEN TOMORROW

Contrary to reports in the local press our school is unaffected by NASUWT strike action and will be open as usual tomorrow.

SACRED HEART COLLEGE TASTER DAY

Pupils in P.7 are off to Sacred Heart College for a ‘taster’ day on Thursday.  This day has always proved very enjoyable in previous years and gives the P.7 pupils a taste of life in Sacred Heart College.  Dinner will be provided for all pupils.  Pupils should wear their uniforms as usual.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER

The school photographer will be with us on Friday morning and the usual variety of individual and family shots will be taken.  Each family will then be issued with prints with no obligation to purchase.  P.1 and P.7 class photos will be taken so we ask that pupils in these classes wear their full uniform on this occasion i.e. shirt/tie and sweater/cardigan.

BREAKFAST CLUB/AFTER SCHOOL CARE

We have been asked about the possible provision of a ‘Breakfast Club’ and/or After School Care.  Naturally before such provision could be considered we would need to establish whether sufficient demand exists for such provision.  Obviously there would be some cost involved but this would be dependent on take-up.  Should you feel that your child/children would be a regular user of such a facility, we ask you to contact the school with an ‘expression of interest’.  It is only at this stage that we can ascertain whether there is sufficient interest to pursue this venture any further.

CONGRATULATIONS CIARAN & GEMMA

Congratulations are extended to our Building Supervisor Ciaran and his wife Gemma who had a new arrival on Wednesday last.  Paudie Hugh Harkin weighed in at a hearty 8lb 7oz and is thriving.  Congratulations Ciaran & Gemma!!
