Monday, 20th February 2012 Weekly Note

20th February 2012

WELCOME BACK

A big welcome back is extended to all after our mid-term break.  We particularly welcome Mr Stephen Mullan, a student teacher, who will be working in Mrs Teague’s class for the next 5 weeks.

ARMAGH ROAD RACE

Congratulations to all who represented the school so well at the Armagh International Road Race on Thursday, 9th February.  Although we had no silverware to show for our efforts, all involved did very well to complete a gruelling course.

A particular mention must go to Leona Teague who suffered a very nasty tumble in the early stages of her race and was unable to continue – commiserations Leona!!

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

After school clubs resume this week for Drama, French and Film Club.  Please note that the £5 fee for Drama and French remains outstanding in a few cases and we ask that this be paid up this week.

FOOD & FITNESS PRESENTATION

Members of the Dairy Council will be visiting the school on Friday morning for a ‘Food & Fitness’ presentation for all pupils.  A change of clothing is not required.

CONFIRMATION

The school has been asked to provide the choir for the Confirmation ceremony this year.  Obviously this is a very important day for the parish and we certainly want to add to the ceremony as best we can.  Obviously P.7 pupils will be unable to participate as they will be directly involved in the Sacrament, so we ask that as many pupils P.4-P.6 are available to participate.  The Ceremony of Confirmation will be held on Saturday, 3rd March in the Sacred Heart Church at 3.00pm.  We are currently preparing as best we can for this event but are having some past pupils join us to assist with Music.  These past pupils will be coming to the school tomorrow afternoon after drama and we ask P4-P6 pupils to stay on after drama for this practice.  This will also be the case next Tuesday (28th Feb).  We thank you in advance for your co-operation.  The practice will end at 5.15pm.

TITANIC TOKENS

Just a reminder to everyone that this week sees an end to the Titanic Competition.  The last tokens will be printed in Saturdays Irish News, so we ask that all tokens be returned to the school at the beginning of next week.  Thanks to everyone for your tremendous efforts in collecting the tokens so far – keep up the good work!

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY

Just a reminder that the school will be closed next Wednesday (29th Feb) for a School Development Day.
