P.7 SERVICE OF LIGHT/PLEDGE MASS
P.7 pupils, parents (& sponsors, if available) are invited along to the Sacred Heart Church tonight at 7.30pm for their Confirmation ‘Service of Light’. This always proves a very spiritual and thought-provoking ceremony which is ideal preparation for Confirmation itself on 21st March.
As explained last week, this Mass will also provide the opportunity for pupils to make their ‘Confirmation Pledge’. Increasingly, it was felt that this aspect of Confirmation was being side-lined and losing its importance in modern society. As a result, it was felt prudent to bring this forward and combine it with the Service of Light Ceremony. All children are asked to attend in their school uniform.
CREDIT UNION QUIZ
Good luck is extended to our P.6/7 pupils, who will participate in the annual Credit Union Quiz on Friday night, 30th January in Fintona Golf Club at 8.00pm. Doubtless our ‘quiz buffs’ will represent themselves well!
TRANSFER RESULTS
Needless to say our P.7 pupils will anxiously be awaiting the post on Saturday to receive the outcome of their Transfer examination. Good luck to all involved – but remember irrespective of grade received all gave of their best and with the same good attitude will thrive in any of our local secondary schools in the years ahead.
GRANDPARENTS DAY
As part of ‘Catholic Schools’ Week our pupils from P.1-P.3 will be hosting their grandparents in the school on Wednesday morning. The fun begins at 11.00am with a cup of tea and a scone and some light entertainment to follow. All grandparents (P.1-P.3) will be most welcome.
HEADLICE
Incidents of headlice are continuing to appear in the school. We ask that the school be notified of any further outbreaks, but that all parents remain extremely vigilant.
An information leaflet is attached for your perusal, but the school nurse has stressed that where headlice have been detected, the most effective treatment remains the old fashioned but time-consuming ‘fine tooth combing’.
