FIRST COMMUNION
Congratulations to all our P.4 pupils who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday. All pupils contributed wonderfully well to the Mass and helped make it a very special and intimate ceremony and hopefully one that will live long in their memory. The weather did its best to dampen the spirits but hopefully this did not detract from the pupils’ enjoyment of the occasion.
A special word of thanks to all our choir members (& their parents) who made the effort to attend. The music was beautiful and we really do appreciate your willingness to support our P.4 pupils on their big day.
A final word of thanks is extended to our Parents’ Association for their wonderful work in providing such a welcome spread back in the school – it was very much appreciated and enabled pupils and their families to mingle, something which was denied them outside the chapel with the driving rain.
P.7 PLEDGE MASS
Good luck to our P.7 pupils who will make their Confirmation Pledge at tonight’s 7.30pm Mass in theSacredHeartChurch. We trust that our P.7 pupils will call on the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit to guide them in the years ahead.
LEARN DIFFERENTLY
Pupils throughout the school will have the opportunity to ‘learn differently’ tomorrow when scientist, Paul McCrory visits the school to put on a magical display of Science tricks! Having seen Paul in action before, this will be a real eye-opener for all!
SPELLING BEE
Good luck to P.7 pupil Adam Connor who has qualified to represent the school in the Eason’s Spelling Bee Competition. Adam will head off for Dungannon on Wednesday morning to test his spelling skills against the rest of the North and no doubt will make a good account of himself.
CROSS-COUNTRY
A group of P.5-P.7 pupils will head for Greencastle on Wednesday morning to participate in their rescheduled Cross-Country race. Good luck to all involved.
GAELIC FOOTBALL TOURNAMENTS
Pupils were disappointed to learn that this morning’s Gaelic Competition at St. Conor’s P.S. was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch. They do get the chance to test their skills atHealyParkon Friday, however, so hopefully the weather will stay dry and enable this tournament to proceed.
GOOD LUCK EOGHAN
Good luck to P.7 pupil, Eoghan Gormley who has been selected to perform in the half-time exhibition game at the Donegal v Tyrone match on Sunday. Enjoy the occasion Eoghan!
WELL DONE ALEN
Congratulations are extended to P.7’s Alen Barrun who along with Conor Thompson attended the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil Handball introductory morning on Friday past. Both boys enjoyed the morning thoroughly with Alen actually picking up the prize for the most improved performer. Well done Alen!
WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK
This week is our annual ‘Walk to School Week’, when we encourage all pupils to discover the benefits of walking. Obviously for many, this will not be possible as their children may live too far away from school or be just too young to walk unsupervised. Some, in the past, have encouraged their children to walk part of the way, from where they consider a safer point. During the week, the teachers will do their bit by getting the pupils out for a walk at least a few times during the week – and thankfully the weather promises to play its part –for once!
PARENTAL SURVEYS
All families were last week issued with a Parental Survey to help us on our School Development Planning. We ask that all surveys be returned this week.
BANK HOLIDAY
School will be closed next Bank Holiday Monday, 27th May 2013.
